Football is undoubtedly the most popular sport in the world. It just depends which country you're in to determine exactly what football is, though. Most countries beyond North America consider football to be the sport played on a large grassy field with two goals, a round ball, and one person on each team being able to use their hands. But for the United States and Canada, "football" is the one where the athletes use an oblong ball, two tall posts, and only one person each team doesn't use their hands. In North America, the sport everyone else calls football is instead called "soccer." There. Got all that? Hope it wasn't too confusing.
Most every league gains popularity by scheduling games once a week, leaving plenty of time in between for fans and writers to opine about their favorite team's past game and upcoming match. So whether you're talking about the United States' NFL, Canada's CFL, England's Premier League, Spain's La Liga, Italy's Serie A, or any country's top football league, like the Australian rules football's AFL, football just rules wherever you are.
